Designing the facility
The Facility sits between two worlds. It serves as a hub, providing its residents a home away from home, providing you follow its rules that is.
Using a process called greyboxing, I began experimenting with the layout using simple geometry and textures. The benefit of this approach is that you can rapidly test out ideas without needing to create assets.
But there is something missing which makes it feel rather lifeless.
Adding a little bit of light has the potential to make a huge difference. As you can see below, it really brings the areas to life.
While it’s still early on in the process and change over the course of development. It’s clear with just a few simple textures, shapes and light, you can see the basis of a world forming.
